Subject: The new Heavy Metal scene debate

Possibly the most unfashionable music of it’s time even at it’s height, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, ACDC, Saxon etc…We all knew a curly permed mullet, headsweatband wearing, denim patch addict, I like Bruce Springsteen as well as metal! Brute stinkin’ but loveable pillock, back in the 70/early 80’s. They were uncool and proud of it. Biggest gripe with the new metal fad is that it’s cool all of a sudden to like metal. Why does this bother me? Well because why couldn’t all these people who suddenly think it’s cool to like metal like it before? I mean it’s been around for years! It’s not cool to like metal and that in itself was cool.
Any thoughts?
PS I’ve always hated Heavy Metal 😉

Metal is music by numbers, and I hate that.
The Darkness are a band who would have been just another sad bunch of metallers in the 80’s and ignored by all but the mullet-brigade. Maybe their current poularity is driven by people too young to remember. Or maybe I misunderstand their true genius.
I have to say I do like early Motorhead though so maybe I am talking out my arse.
